Contracts were signed for the construction of student accommodation on Voulgaroktonou , Arsinois and Komninos streets in the center of Nicosia.
In a statement, Nicosia Municipality said that as part of its efforts to attract new residents, Nicosia Municipality is continuing to invest in the walled city by building a student residence. This is a project that, combined with other activities, will breathe new life into the center and contribute to its revitalization within the walls of Nicosia by attracting students.
The contracts were signed by the mayor of Nicosia, Konstantinos Yortzis and director of Stavros A. Stavrou Construction Enterprises Ltd. The project will include 50 rooms, one of which meets design standards for people with disabilities.
Each room will be equipped with a single door refrigerator, microwave, double electric range, range hood and air conditioning for heating/cooling. Two laundries will be created with 12 washing machines and 12 dryers.
The building will be equipped with a photovoltaic power generation system, CCTV system, access control system, lighting control system, etc.
The project cost is expected to be €3,821,462 plus VAT and will be financed by the EU Recovery and Resilience Mechanism under the Cyprus Recovery and Resilience Plan.
Maintenance/refurbishment work is expected to begin on 16 September 2023 and last 16 months.
